OOTP Predictions for April 3

Baseball Cartoon Swing Batter

The OOTP Predictions for April 3 are complete and ready for you to view below. The results from yesterday's games are falling in line with previous predictions. There were seven incorrect predictions and five correct.

Several surprising results occurred yesterday. It seems that the Baltimore Orioles are starting to look like contenders. They keep winning. Boston continues to appear as the favored team in the simulator and they keep losing. It's getting to the point where being the start of the season won't hold up as an excuse. Teams need to start solidifying soon.

For today's predictions, Boston is once again favored and interestingly, their strength indicator (Runs Scored / Runs Allowed) increased significantly from yesterday's prediction. Perhaps the simulator believes losing this many games will somehow fire the team up? I don't know the internal workings of the AI engine for OOTP. Therefore, it's pure speculation on my part.

Other upsets include the Yankees, the Texas Rangers, and the Angels. I already mentioned Baltimore with the team winning when they were predicted to lose. Another winning team that's been flying under the radar is Seattle. They are a team to watch this year.

The simulator predicted Philadelphia to lose. With Bryce Harper's serving a strikeout for his first at bat against his former team, it seemed like that was in the cards. But, the simulator didn't account for how fired up Harper is or how fired up Philly is for having him on the team. We'll see what happens on today's game as Washington is once again favored in the simulator.

  1. I’m shocked at Baltimore, having continually won into the second week of the season. We’ll see if they keep it up for the long haul. Ditto for Boston, but heading in the other direction. Eventually, I feel Baltimore will sail south while Boston sails north. I’m impressed thus far with my Rays and would love to see them steal the division in 2019. The talent is there but as always, Boston and New York are threats.

    1. Hey Todd, thanks for your comment. You wrote something similar on another comment which is cool. It reinforces your point which I agree with. Let’s see how this all plays out this season. Best Regards, Jim

  2. Thanks for the updated information and the predictions for today’s games. I like to look at this kind of data then add my own research data to come up with a final prediction for the game outcomes. It is helpful that you add in additional comments that explain the data.

I am a big fan of baseball and have been for years. It is a lot of fun to follow the teams and players as the season progresses, and of course, I will make a wager or three during the season and during the playoffs as well. It is sites such as this one that help me immensely in that quest to find the winners.

The website has been bookmarked and will be one more place I check in on daily as I make my calculations. Thanks for your efforts with this!

    1. Hey Dave, thank you for the comment and welcome aboard. I look forward to helping provide the predictions of OOTP. I am glad this site is proving helpful to you. Best Regards, Jim

  3. I’m impressed with Baltimore right now, though it’ll be a mystery to see whether or not they keep this up. While Boston continues to head south, I wouldn’t be surprised if they sail north before long while Baltimore sails south. But then again, who knows? I’m glad to see my Rays continue their winning ways as of right now, but per the usual, Boston and New York are threatening, or will threaten, in the AL East.

    1. Hey Todd, it’s nice to see you back again. Your Rays are doing well. All the upsets have certainly made for an interesting season to say the least. Best Regards, Jim

  4. Hello,

thanks for the OOTP predictions for today. I’m quite amazed by the predictions of some team’s outcome. Really shows how well you have carried out the research on these predictions. Can I ask if the percentages may be placed on these games to further encourage and give confidence to the readers?.

    Thanks

    1. Hi Salim, thanks for your comments. I include a strength indicator in the predictions that could act as percentages. For instance, if the strength indicator is 1.23, that could be theoretically interpreted as 23% stronger chance of the predicted winner winning. Hope that makes sense.
      Best Regards,
      Jim
