Data Sources

Use resources (below) to find datasets or data sources. The plan is to update this whenever I come across new sources. Be sure to check back or bookmark the page.

Please Note: Use these data sources at your own risk. You should verify the sources. I took every measure to include data sources that are reliable, but I don't control the sources. I only list them here.

  1. I find your reading on data source to be interesting I have never used Google Scholar before and it was a wonderful experience when I tried it just a little different but wonderful and the CIA World Factbook was also a wonderful experience thanks for the new info.

    1. Hey Quinn, thank you for the visit and your comment. I am glad you found this to be useful. My plan is to add more resources as I discover them. It may require a reworking of the navigation as I progress, but I’ll worry about that when I get to it.
      Best Regards,
      Jim

  2. Thank you so much for introducing me to these data sources. It should be very helpful in my article research and writing for my Christianity blog.

I intend to write 200+ sometimes controversial articles in the next year so having these data sources to go to for article ideas and content will be great.

    Thank you

    1. Hey Alexander,

thank for visiting my website and commenting. I am glad you found this to be useful. I will definitely take your niche into consideration for future resources.

      Best Regards,

      Jim

  3. Wow, thank you for sharing these data resources! I’ve been doing some research on various topics and these will definitely help. I really like Google Scholar and PEW Research as well as the Journalism site for survey results. Do you have a particular preference out of those listed? It’s very interesting to see one from the CIA!

    1. Hey Brian, thanks for your comment. I am glad you find these resources useful. I needed a way to access many of the resources that I use for research in one easy place. I don’t really have a preference as it depends what I am researching.

My plan is to update this resource on an ongoing basis.

      Thanks again for your comment!

      Best Regards,

      Jim

  4. Hi Jim,

Thanks so much for sharing a good article to know more about Data sources,

As I keep working to build up my own website, to know more about valuable information is a must do in my regular day to find article ideas to write, your article has given me a good idea where to find the information I need.

I’ve never used Google Scholar before, but it looks quite interesting.

    1. Hey Alejandra, thanks for your comment. My plan is to update this site as I discover more resources. Although, I don’t want it to get so big that it is unusable. Perhaps when it does grow, I will rearrange the site to have different sections as part of a menu, or something along those lines.
Google Scholar is a great resource for researching because it often includes peer-reviewed material.

      Best Regards,

      Jim

  5. Hi there,

i just see your site , which is wonderful, lots of material is there. i just find your reading on data sources and found it very useful i not have to go anywhere else all i one site. Others things are also very cool like business , marketing , finance. Thanks for helping

    1. Hey Eric, thanks for your comment. I am glad you found it to be useful. My goal is to continue to add to this resource, so be sure to bookmark it for future use.

      Best Regards,

      Jim

  6. This is coming in really handy for my blog writing, especially the Journalism article. Sometimes its a struggle to write enough information on a topic, when you run out of ideas. I like to write more than 200 words every time. Is that a good target? Thank you for this helpful article.

    1. Hey Jayde, thanks for the comment. I needed a resource myself where I could consolidate many of the websites that I use in my research. I am glad you are finding these resources useful yourself.

      Best Regards,

      Jim

  7. wow this is a really great site to get quality information from. In this world of information and misinformation it is so important have reputable sources to research from. Thank you for sharing this and I hope you carry on creating great new information sources in the future for your site visitors to enjoy. Kenny

    1. Hey Kenny, thanks for your comment. I am glad you find this useful. I know it helps me whenever I need to research articles. I do plan on continuing adding resources in the future.

      Best Regards,

      Jim

  8. Good morning,

This is one of the most outstanding and complete websites about data sources that I ever came to read. A source of so many useful scientific articles build on the rocks. I have marked this website as one of my top favorites and reference for further use. Thank you.

    Kind regards

    Nuggets

    1. Hey Nuggets, thanks for the comment and the kudos. This is exactly what I wanted to accomplish with this resource: to have a one-stop location for resources that people found useful in their research. Each time I research I have to find a list of relevant resources that are usually scattered all over the place. This helps me confine those resources and I thought why not share it with everyone else?

      Best Regards,

      Jim

  9. Hey Jim,

I have to say, this is very informative and helpful article which will come ver handy in my next content wrtiing session, great job! I am very passioante about medical related stuff, so I checked health section, to be exact US Health Data and stumbled across very interesting and exciting datasets and blog posts with very useful information such as ”Why Data Sharing Matters To Your Organization”, or ”Chemicals In Comsetics”. I also found ”Striding into a better health plan” to be quite captivating to read and learn about, great stuff! Keep up the good work Jim!

    1. Hey Evald, I am glad you found the resources to be useful and thanks for the comment. I wanted to have a place where people could find resources that fit their needs. The resources will evolve as I discover new ones and reevaluate the ones already listed.

      Best Regards,

      Jim

  10. Thanks for providing a resource page where someone could come and connect with other places to go and learn what they are looking for.

I do wish you would have added some of your own thoughts, opinions etc. here and not just left it for me to click through to other sites. I could have reached these sites through doing my own Google search. I don’t have the opportunity to get to know you as an expert in this field because I do not hear your voice. Just my own thought on this.

The advantage though of doing it this way is that if I would bookmark your site, it could provide me a quicker way to get to these resources than doing my own Google research.

Thanks for the links, but still would enjoy hearing your voice as an expert who watches over this topic.

    1. Hey Todd, thanks for the comment. My initial thought was to provide more insight into each link, give my opinion about them, etc. However, I felt it would have bloated the page and made it unwieldy for users. It was a trade off. Don’t worry, though. I plan for my website to have plenty of useful resources that will contain my insight, as well as others in the data science field.
      Best Regards,
      Jim

  11. Well I’ll definitely bookmark this useful resource, as you’ve already managed to introduce me to something impressive – Google Scholar. Never come across this before, never even heard of it until I landed on your list!

How frequently will you be thinking about updating this list? Will it be worth us popping back every week to see something new added?

    1. Hey Chris, thanks for the comment. I am glad you found it useful.
My goal is to update it frequently, although I cannot commit to a set schedule. My plan is quality over quantity. I would rather spend time to make sure the resources are useful and valid rather than adding links just for the sake of having more links. I think it’s worth it to bookmark the site anyway. Many people use the same resources frequently, so they do come back here for that.
      Best Regards,
      Jim

  12. Thank you for making the effort and putting in time to bring this article together. This is really informational and useful.

I’ve bookmarked this already, so I can go through each of the listed sources anytime. I really needed data on ‘trends ‘ to boost my business.

I’ll be checking in frequently to get more sources

    1. Hey Eohia,
Thank you for your comment. I do plan on adding more resources to this list and it is on my agenda to add more trend resources as you suggested.
      Best Regards,
      Jim

  13. This is a really useful page to come back to in the future- a great and extensive list of some of the best information sources.

I’m glad you have made this because there is a lot of false information on the internet that slides through the radar. Since it is on the internet people seem to think that everything is true, which isn’t the case. So being able to come to this page and find websites where I know the information is reliable, is great.

    1. Hey Joe, thanks for the comment.
Yeah, I agree about so much fake information on the internet. It’s part of the reason I created the list. My goal is to keep the list as authoritative as possible and find resources that are valid and useful while weeding out the ones that turn out to be unreliable, etc.
      Best Regards,
      Jim

  14. Wow, I’m impressed.  The scope of what you’re trying to do is too vast for my wee brain.  I can see why companies still struggle to properly define how they can ‘exploit’ a data scientist’s talents.

But there are some savvy companies out there, wanting to get to the next level.  I’m sure the consultancy market would be ripe for you to reap.  And offering your talents like an open source on a website, for the general public, is a great way to showcase your skills.

I look forward to monitoring your progress, Sir.

    Thank you for the share.

    1. Hey Cath, thank you for your comment.
At this point, my goal of the website is to help other people who are looking to break into the data science field. That is the purpose of the website.
      Best Regards,
      Jim

  15. Hey, there! This is cool! I have definitely book marked this post. Having all the links to good data sources is really great!

Specially when we’re in the middle of writing an article and we need to research stuff, having this post handy is a great advantage! Thank you very much!

I have used Amazon AWS Data Sources and Google Scholar, and they both are great. I’ll immedietly dive into the others you have listed here. I’m eager to explore them as well!

    1. Hey Henry, that’s awesome that you found this resource to useful, and thank you for your comment.
My aim is to provide the best quality links possible and will opt to provide quality over quantity. When I find useful and valid links I will continue to add them. I will also remove any that turn out to be duds, so to speak.
      Best Regards,
      Jim
